Carnegie’s got a secret – a little gem called Santucci’s Cafe, in Koornang Road. I only visited for desert, warm crepes with berry compote and a mug of chai latte, but it left me wondering just how good their meals must be.
The cafe is cosy, full of art deco kitchen tables and mismatched chairs, which is softly lit to give the feeling of intamacy. The tables range from two seaters to spaces big enough to seat a group of eight. Adding to the cosy feeling is the friendly staff who aim to please (and just between you and me, they certainly meet their high standards!)
I am going out on a limb here, but the hot chocolate is definately one of the best available in Melbourne. Big call I know, but I am on a mission to find the best.
If you stop by, make sure you leave room for one of the cakes in the display stand up the back. A personal recommendation is the custard coconut cake.

Yes! I have been here and had dinner…It really is an amazing place. It takes you away to another place. So relaxing you dont want to leave. The food and coffee is made with so much love.

It’s one of those special places! In fact it’s my second home – my friends and family often refer to me being in ‘the office’ when I’m at Santucci’s. Now that I’m retired I’m a regular fixture there during the day
The eclectic collection of furniture, decor, cutlery and crockery all combine to create a place that really feels like home.
Rita and her staff are always friendly and helpful. If the service is ever a bit slow or the order mislaid (only occasionally), in the end the order is always delivered with a smile and an apology for any inconvenience.
Santucci’s is just that sort of place

The UTC time was not intentional, I just overlooked it when I was setting up the blog.
Thanks for noticing, I have now changed it to day-light savings time. The only hurdle now is remembering to subtract an hour when it comes to an end.

I am sitting in this place now, shame there is no wifi, and am very glad they changed to “pay after” instead of the rather “we don’t trust you so pay when you order” method. Great food, fairly chilled atmosphere, coffee ok also! Cheerio folks
